### Special Session of Commission Will Be Called, Belief Around Capitol

Although the State Prison Commission has set no date for the hearing of Leo M. Frank's petition for a commutation of his sentence from that of death to life imprisonment and will not set a date until after Frank is resentenced by Judge Ben H. Hill, it is expected at the Capitol that a special called session of the Prison Commission to consider Frank's petition will be held about Wednesday, May 19.

This expectation is based upon the anticipation that the mandate of the United States Supreme Court will reach Atlanta this week and that Frank will be resentenced early next week. The hearing before the Prison Commission is expected to extend over two or three days, and for this reason, the Commission will hardly delay it until its regular June meeting, the calendar for which already promises to be a heavy one.

Thursday was marked by no new move in the case, although Attorney H. A. Alexander, of the Frank defense, did appear at the courthouse to secure the record of the extraordinary motion for a new trial for Frank, indicating that some of the evidence introduced at that hearing may be used before the Prison Commission.

Attorneys stated that the action of Mr. Alexander in taking out the papers, on the court's order, was a matter of routine incident to their preparation of the general case.

Among the many petitions to the Governor for a commutation of Frank's sentence, which are being daily received at the executive office, is one signed by the members of the Cornell Alumni Association of Western Pennsylvania.

Frank is a Cornell graduate, and many of the signers, who knew him personally, prefixed to their signatures short notes to the Governor, dealing with the character and reputation of the man when he was their fellow student at the big university.
